The aims of the Independent Living Project are to provide support, skills and practice to empower individuals to make decisions and take actions regarding their lives and to provide opportunities for them to actively contribute to the community and towards their own development and potential.

Seabrook House in Swanscombe has a main building with facilities for support and training in independent living and has two self contained flats.

Hattie Webb house in Rochester provides a shared support living environment for young adults. It houses up to four young adults for the mid to long term.

FAIRBRIDGE: Works with young people aged 13-25 that other organisations find difficult to engage; giving them self confidence and the skills they need to change their lives.

The young people often face multiple issues and lack family support. They are encouraged by personal support within a safe environment. For many it is their first step back to education, training or work.

Young people start with an induction with a key worker. They move on to an access course designed to develop a range of personal and social skills. The course is outdoor focused and challenging.

Then, with their key worker, they produce a Personal Development Plan, which may include digital film and music production.

We often collect for The Sunlight Centre. The Gillingham community have a wonderful centre. Local people are given the confidence to set up groups to help others. They have a radio station, various health groups and a health centre, mothers' groups and coffee shop.
