Welcome to West Kent Quakers
john-3_daisy_B.jpg

This site is designed for people who are interested in Quakers. Perhaps you just want to find information or perhaps you have been to a Quaker meeting and want to find out more before going again.

Kent Quakers are divided into East Kent Quakers, with meetings in Ashford, Broadstairs, Canterbury and Faversham and Folkestone and West Kent Quakers, with meetings in Gravesend, Maidstone, Rochester, Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.

Go to the 'Meetings' Tab to find the Meeting nearest you. Clicking on the links for East Kent Quakers will take you directly to their website.

Telephone John on 0845 4191702 (local rate) for West Kent Quakers information or email West Kent Quakers and we will answer your query: john@westkentquakers.org.uk

If you have found this site and are outside Kent then go to the National Quaker website at http://www.quaker.org.uk for information on Quaker meetings elsewhere in the country. Friends House, as the National HQ is known, is directly opposite Euston Station in London.

Purpose of Religion
The purpose of religion is to help us find meaning in our lives, to reach the underlying reality, the inexpressible truth. Throughout time churches and faiths have tried to help people to recognise the extraordinary in the ordinary, or as many Quakers would put it, to find God in their daily lives. So Quakers recognise all the worlds' great faiths as ways to spiritual fulfilment and are willing to learn from and work with other faiths and churches. But for Quakers there is something uniquely helpful and inspiring in the "living silenceā€ of a Quaker Meeting. (anonymous)
